Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story was shown in June 2008 at the ReelHeART International Film Festival in Toronto, taking 2nd place in "Short or Long Form Documentary". Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story also screened in June 2008 at the DeadCENTER Film Festival in Oklahoma City.
In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act in April 2008, Brick by Brick was the closing event of the US Housing and Urban Development Policy Conference in Atlanta. Hundreds of fair housing professionals from around the USA gave the film a prolonged standing ovation at the conference’s closing.
In March, Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story kicked off the 2008 Liberty and Justice Series at ON LOCATION: Memphis. The series highlighted Civil Rights and Civil Liberties issues at the festival as Memphis commemorated the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination in 1968.
In February 2008, Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story was included in the prestigious Reel Progress series at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC. Reel Progress has premiered Academy Award winning documentaries and features in their Washington screenings.
Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story was the closing event at the Yale University Rebellious Lawyering Conference in February 2008.
SCREENING HISTORY: Brick by Brick originally aired on WNET/Thirteen, the PBS flagship station in New York City, February 2007.
Brick by Brick's festival premiere was at the Tupelo Film Festival in May, 2007, winning Second Prize for Documentary Feature in its first competition.
Since its premiere, Brick by Brick: A Civil Rights Story has screened at numerous festivals, including the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, ON LOCATION: Memphis, the Indianapolis Film Festival, the Red Hook Film Festival, and the Bronx N-Spired Film Festival, as well as at the Center for American Progress, HUD, civil rights gatherings, universities and lawyers groups and law schools across the country.
Brick by Brick was also presented in a major New York City screening by The Furman Center & the Fair Housing Justice Center at the Tishman Auditorium, NYU Law School in October 2007.
